PAMELA LAURENT

Pamela Laurent co-founded the Voice Studio and North County School of the Arts (NCSA) with her husband and professional actor/singer, Scott Gregory. Ovation Theatre (OT) was created when they both realized their experience on and off the stage could help pave the way for emerging artists, students and performers of all ages in the community. One of the goals of OT is to provide professional quality musical theatre training to students and, as a result, create professional quality productions for the students and for the community.
Pamela received her BS in theatre and music at MacMurray College in Illinois and went on for her masters work in voice at the University of Illinois. As a professional singer and performer, Pamela has performed in musicals and operas in the US and abroad. She sang the role of Mme Giry with the international cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera in Hamburg, Germany for more than 500 performances. On the operatic stage, Pamela has performed leading roles with Lyric Opera of Chicago, Whitewater Opera, Seattle Opera, National Opera Company, and Lyric Opera of San Diego. She has sung leading roles in Carmen, Hansel and Gretel, The Marriage of Figaro, La Cenerentola, The Tales of Hoffmann and The Merry Widow, as well as many others.
Laurent began her career in Chicago with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. While there, she was a Metropolitan Opera district finalist and 1st prize winner for Chicago’s Bel Canto Competition.
SCOTT GREGORY
Music Director / Executive Director
Scott Gregory, Co-Executive Director and Music Director for Ovation Theatre (OT), has been involved with music and performing in San Diego for over 20 years. He co-founded the North County School of the Arts (NCSA) with his wife, Pamela Laurent, and together they have helped created a thriving performing arts community based in Encinitas. In addition to his teaching responsibilities through Ovation Theatre and NCSA, Scott is also on the Voice Faculty at the University of San Diego.
With his B.S. in Choral education from Dickinson State College in Dickinson North Dakota, and his M.M in Voice Performance from UNM, Scott sang around the world for 20+years.
Scott Gregory started his career as an operatic baritone. He has been seen throughout the U.S. and Europe. He has sung extensively in San Diego, singing Figaro, in the The Barber of Seville, the Father in Hansel and Gretel, the Father in the world premier of Rumplestiltskin, and many others. He has been heard as Guglielmo, in Cosi Fan Tutte, Top, The Tender Land, Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, Dandini, in Cinderella, Mr. Ford in Falstaff and others. He sang almost 1000 performances of Raoul, Vis. de Chagny and Msr. Andre' in the German production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera.
Scott's students have been seen on the professional stages in New York, London, and San Diego, etc. as well as in many Television shows.
Scott is a member of the National Association of Singing (NATS)
